Buenos Aires, October 29, 2025 – Total News Agency (TNA) – Prosecutor Adrián Arribas held a press conference this Wednesday at the San Justo Courthouse, providing details on the interrogation of Joseph Freyser Zabaleta Cubas, known as “Señor Jota,” accused of being the mastermind behind the triple murder of Morena Verdi, Brenda Del Castillo, and Lara Gutiérrez.

According to the judicial official, the detainee “denied the facts and claimed not to know the other individuals involved.” He also stated that “three other defendants will testify tomorrow” as part of the case.

An extensive and contradictory statement Arribas explained that the hearing lasted four hours, during which Zabaleta Cubas expressed surprise at the charges.

“He said he was a police officer in Peru and that this is all a smokescreen,” the prosecutor detailed, although he clarified that “there are elements that prove his involvement.” Among the evidence mentioned, the prosecutor highlighted that “one of the defendants recognizes him as ‘dad,’ and there are reports from Peru, as well as records of his recent movements.”

Seized evidence and new interrogations During the investigation, judicial personnel found in cell number 4 of the Cavia jail a notebook with phone numbers, notes, and a list of visitors received by the accused.

Regarding the situation of Mónica Mujica, wife of Víctor Sotacuro, Arribas affirmed that “we have confirmed that she was aware of everything” and that it was she who, using a specific application, “erased the information from the accused's phone.” The prosecutor also confirmed that the defense attorney requested new statements from Florencia Ibáñez, Mujica, and Sotacuro, which will be taken on the morning of Thursday, October 30.
